Closed Stairwell Renovation

Demolition of the old stairs. The carpet, treads and risers were removed. The angular landing step was squared up.

The dramatic results. We installed oak treads and aspen risers. The solid baseboard was extended around the landings and topped with narrow molding. The treads were stained to match other woodwork in the home. The walls, risers, and baseboards were painted. The oak handrails were stripped and stained to match the treads.

Prefinished tongue and groove oak strips were installed on the landings (shown above and at left). The newell posts were supplied by the homeowner.
